Oppo Find N2 Flip makes global debut, new challenge to Samsung's foldable dominance.

Oppo Find N2 Flip, the company's foldable flip phone, was officially launched on the world market at an event in London. Oppo has launched one of its foldable phones globally for the first time, a major step for the Shenzhen-based company. In 2021, the company launched the Oppo Find N, which expanded into a tablet form factor, but only in China. The Find N2 Flip and Find N2 Fold phones were released in China last year.

Oppo's Find N2 Flip will undoubtedly challenge Samsung, which is currently the dominant player in the foldable segment. Counterpoint Research reports that the foldable smartphone market will grow from 9 million to 16 million in 2022 and 23 million this year. The report also states that Samsung is the clear leader in this segment, with Huawei and Oppo in second and third place with a 62% share. It's largely true that the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold and Z Flip series are the de facto foldable options in the smartphone market. Oppo is looking to shake up the world with its own global launch, and the Find N2 Flip is deliberately outclassing the Z Flip4, both of which have a similar form factor.

As the global smartphone market shrinks and consumers continue to use their older phones, foldable models represent an attractive new form factor that could convince buyers who don't mind paying a higher price. Now that most smartphones look the same and there is a certain balance between camera and performance, a foldable phone is one way for a brand to stand out from the crowd. This also explains why Oppo is launching the Find N2 Flip globally.

Oppo Find N2 Flip: technical data, price

Oppo Find N2 Flip has a 3.26-inch AMOLED display on the outside. That's a much larger second screen compared to the 1.9-inch screen on the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip4. Unfolded, the N2 Flip has a 6.8-inch AMOLED screen with a 21:9 aspect ratio. The maximum refresh rate supported by the device is 120 Hz. Users can rely on the external screen to take selfies and view them clearly with the rear camera. This means you don't have to unlock your phone every time you want to take a selfie. For example, users can add widgets to the external screen to quickly display notifications.

Inside the phone is a new-generation "Flexion Hinge" with a waterdrop design, which Oppo says makes it thinner than the previous series. In addition, the crease, which is usually considered a pitfall of foldable phones, is almost invisible when the device is unfolded.

The Oppo Find N2 Flip is paired with a Mediatek Dimensity 9000+ processor, 8GB of RAM, 256GB of storage, and a 4300mAh battery with 44W fast charging. 50MP main rear camera and 8MP ultra-wide camera. The phone has Hasselblad branding for the camera. The front camera has a resolution of 32 MP and is part of the internal display.

In the UK, the Oppo Find N2 Flip costs £849 for the 8GB+256GB variant, and you get the Oppo Enco X headphones for free with the phone.
